Acquisition of Ethical Values: A Review on Health Sciences Students

Özet (Abstract)

Today, health sciences students are expected to have a solid ethical value infrastructure in order to apply ethical principles correctly in their professional lives. Ethical values are a guide for healthcare professionals to provide effective treatment and proper care to the patient. The ability of students to provide qualified treatment and care after graduation is closely related to their ability to approach the problems they encounter in an ethical framework and to evaluate these problems in line with ethical principles. The fact that health services is a field that directly affects human life increases the importance of this situation. In this review, the approaches of health sciences students of ethical values and the individual, institutional and social factors affecting these approaches are discussed. In addition, approaches to the acquisition of ethical values during the education are also discussed. From a comprehensive review of the existing literature, it was concluded that the implementation of an effective ethics education programme increases students' ethical sensitivity and awareness of professional responsibility in their future professional lives.It is recommended that ethics education in health sciences should be strengthened and applied learning methods should be popularised.
